Stand 2/C04 in hall C2

IAILC AG invites you to attend our presentations at the tekom annual fair and tcworld conference in Stuttgart 2019 on a series of topics: iiRDS meta data extractionlegacy data recovery, automatic terminology extraction, terminology evaluation, and language quality checking.

You are also very welcome to visit us at our booth (Stand  2/C04 in hall C2). We will be happy to present you the unique quality of our tools and services. You may contact us in advance and make an appointment for an individual meeting.

SIKiiRDS – das iiRDS-Pilotprojekt von Siemens DI

(iiRDS pilot project on automatic recovery of iiRDS categories from the SIEMENS information system)

Partner presentation: Robert Erfle (Dosco), Ursula Reuther (IAILC), Marcus Hoffmann (Siemens),
Wednesday, 13th November, 16:30 - 17:15, Room C7.1

Topic-based documentation and a rudimentary supply of metadata seemed to be a good starting point for approaching an iiRDS-based information system.  Siemens Digital Factory, thus, started a pilot project meant to assign iiRDS categories automatically to documents from the software and hardware department. The software company DOSCO has built a converter which automatically builds iiRDS packages from SIEMENS documents. IAILC AG has contributed linguistic processing tools to support the conversion. The talk presents interesting results from this project.

Einsatz von Sprachtechnologie zur automatischen Erzeugung von iiRDS

(Using language technology for automatic generation of iiRDS)

Partner presentation: Susanne Preuss, PhD (IAILC), Marcus Hoffmann (Siemens)
Thursday, 14th November, 9:00 - 9:45, Plenum2

The paper reports on a common project between SIEMENS AG and IAILC AG about automatic extraction of iiRDS meta data in the domain of software and hardware deployment. The task has been to automatically extract iiRDS meta data from already existing meta data such as indexes, titles, and short abstracts. The paper shows how language technology is used to enrich existing meta data with iiRDS meta data and discusses extensions to other domains.

Terminologie aufräumen mit linguistischen Analyseverfahren

(Cleaning up terminologies by using linguistic analysis methods)

Presentation: Dr. Axel Theofilidis
Thursday, 14th November, 11:15 - 12:00, Room C5.2

Not each collection of terms that is called ‘terminology’ deserves its name. But even true terminologies have a great number of flaws, inconsistencies, spelling mistakes, badly formed terms etc. The paper will show how deep linguistic analysis can help cleaning up the inventory of terms. It is shown how different application scenarios may benefit from this service.

IAILC AG at tekom Fair and tcworld Conference 2018

The focus of our presentations at the tekom annual fair and tcworld conference in Stuttgart was on meta data extraction and legacy data recovery, though not neglecting linguistic services such as terminology extraction, terminology evaluation or language quality checking.

In his tool presentation, Paul Schmidt focused on Automatic Metadata Extraction for Content Delivery based on linguistic analysis routines. All presentations attracted much interest.

Cleaning Up Legacy Product Data Is Feasible

This was the conclusion of the talk Verjüngungskur für sprachliche Altdaten (Rejuvenating Treatment for Legacy Data) presented by Axel Theofilidis at the tekom/TC World conference 2017. Legacy product data may exhibit specific properties due to limitations of early IT systems such as texts written in capital letters only, without umlauts, with lots of orthographic errors and the like. Such data can be cleaned and recovered to a degree of 95 % and even more by using high quality linguistic processing tools. The tiny rest may easily be corrected and adapted intellectually.

Learn more about how legacy product data can be cleaned by using high quality linguistic processing tools. The results perfectly fit modern language technology applications such as authoring memories or translation memories.

Linguistic Term Extraction in a Web Shop

Oct 11, 16:00 - 16:30
LT Industry Summit, 9-11 Oct, Brussels
Dr. Paul Schmidt

The compilation of a high quality terminological resource is a must for many scenarios. It is a basis for high quality technical communication, it is a prerequisite for efficient translation in technical domains, it facilitates the use of language technology such as authoring memories or translation memories. However, the compilation of a standardized high quality terminological resource is a time consuming and expensive process. Language technology has had this problem in its focus for a long time resulting in term extraction tools galore. We would like to present another one which claims to have a superior quality through its excellent linguistic basis. In addition, the tool is easily accessible through a web shop which makes it available for everyone that needs such a service.

Term Extraction in a Web Shop Was a Great Success!

‘Termextraktion in den Warenkorb’ (‘put term extraction into the cart’) was IAILC AG’s motto for this year’s tekom fair. IAILC AG presented a recently opened web shop which provides term extraction for German and English. Many visitors appreciated its easy accessibility, its cost effectiveness and above all the quality of the results.

Linguistic services providers, translators, terminologists, and technical writers expressed confidence that there is a great potential in our approach to terminology services.

Also other services such as terminology evaluation, automatic indexation, compilation of word clouds from large document collections as well as the calculation of document similarities were of great interest to visitors.
